Suffolk Herbs Organic Runner Bean Scarlett Emperor
Description
This is an old favourite. It is early into production, shorter growing, and has a slightly rough pod texture but outstanding flavour.
Sow from April to June. Early sowings can be made in individual pots in a glasshouse or cold frame, and then plant out after the last likely frost. Plants should be put in the ground about 15 cm apart in single rows, double rows about 60 cm apart. Remember plants wind so provide a bean netting, canes of string so the plant can scramble up. Runner beans need ample soil moisture, so give them a thorough soaking once a week in hot spells.
