Description

A main crop sister line to Flyaway, with larger, blunt ended, cylindrical, firm, crunchy sweet roots, bred to deter carrot fly attacks. Stores well.

When to Sow Carrot Resistafly F1 Seeds
April to July.

Harvest
June to November.

Where to Sow
Sow thinly direct into the growing site 2cm (¾") deep in rows 30cm (12") apart. If possible, sow carefully so that thinning is not necessary.

What to do Next
Carrot fly is attracted by the smell whilst thinning. If you do have to thin the seedlings, do so in the evening. Water before thinning and remove all the debris. Do not transplant. Aim for roots 5-7cm (2-3") apart. Young Carrots can always be pulled alternately to 'thin as you eat'.

Handy Tip
If only carrot Resistafly is grown and if there is carrot fly in the area they may still attack the variety. To overcome this another variety like Early Nantes should be grown alongside, this acts as a sacrificial crop and the Carrot fly will prefer to attack this variety and leave the row of Carrot Resistafly alone. Alternatively carrots should be grown under enviromesh to stop carrot fly getting to the crop.
