Description

Broccoli seeds - Purple Sprouting Claret F1 produces heavy yields of large vigorous plants with quality purple spears. Excellent flavour! Late maturity in April and May. Can be harvested up to 4 weeks. This is a good replacement for Cardinal.

When to Sow Purple Sprouting Claret Seeds
April to May.

Plant out
June.

Where to Sow
Sow seeds thinly in a well prepared seed bed in shallow drills 1.5cm (1/2") deep in short rows.
Alternatively sow the seeds thinly in seed trays or two seeds per cell in modules under glass at 13°C. Position in full sun.

What to do Next
Outdoor sowings should be thinned out to 7-10cm (3-4in) apart, then once plants are large enough, lifted and transplanted to their final planting positions 60cm (24in) apart and 90cm (36in) between the rows to grow on to maturity. As soon as glasshouse seedlings show their first pair of leaves, prick off into trays 5cm (2") apart or thin modules to one seedling per cell. Gradually harden off before planting out when about 15cm (6") tall to the same spacing’s as detailed above.

Handy Tip
Pick out central spear first to encourage lots of side shoots. Keep picking regularly whilst young to prolong harvest period.

Harvest
April to May following Year.
